From reading various websites on the internet it appears that Charlie had his kidney operation yesterday. The following post is an update on Charlie's condition which i found on the talkForum site.

Body: Hello, I am Charlie's wife Estelle, and I have just returned from the hospital where Charlie had his kidney operation today. The operation was a great success.

According to the doctor, who was part of the theatre team of surgeons, all involved thought it went extremely smoothly.

Subject: BACK HOME - DOING GOOD

Just to let everyone know the surgery went very very well. They were able to do keyhole surgery, which is amazing. I could have left the hospital 23 hours after the op -- I was deemed fit enough to go (medically, not for NHS reasons). I elected to stay one more night just to get a good night's sleep.

Have been home since Saturday night -- and though tired and sleeping quite a lot -- I am fine. The doctors were all very happy with the outcome and, believe it or not, I have been in next to no pain what-so-ever.

I'm scheduled to do a paper review (on Sky I think) in a couple of weeks, and don't see any reason why this won't be possible.

A very big thank you to all for the many thoughts, prayers and good wishes you have been sending me and my family. It has been an anxious time, but I think a corner has been turned.
