I replied in here as it won't let me reply to the other one.

Ian's disappearance is definitely strange.

His last posting to the board was on Saturday 7th July, when he said - "There'll be a delay in uploading the audio for this weekend's shows... should be there by Wednesday/Thursday night." That was an upload he never made. (last uploaded show was 2 July's show.)

So, he disappeared sometime between 7th and 12th July.

An email I sent him on 30 june (a week before his disappearance) was returned on 31 July as his mailbox had been untouched for 30 days.

People on the net are beginning to speculate, some thinking he is dead.

Ian prides himself on regular updates to his sites, and if he knew he was gonna be away for a time then he would surely have said something. There was the comment about not being able to upload until wednesday/thursday, but that is all.

This is indeed a mystery, and the on present evidence I would guess he is either dead or enjoying a holiday at Her Majesty's Pleasure.

If you want to find the whereabouts of Ian
I suggest you contact some taxi firms in Cambridge and ask if Ian Clarke works for them. Failing that, if he is a Hackney carriage driver contact Cambridge Licencing Office and ask if they have Ian's plate number and if they can contact him please pass on a message.

I do find his disappearence a bit of a mystery and totally out of charicter.

Ian doesn't work for a taxi firm - he is a private hackney cab driver.

However, he actually rents his cab off another cabbie - if something had happened to Ian, this other cabbie would know about it.

Unfortunately, I don't have his details.

Thanks for the replies. Any info will be posted here when I get it.

Cheers,
Jamie

Jamie, As I said, if Ian is a Hackney carriage driver his details will be listed with the Cambridge licensing office. I appreciate that they will not be able to give you his address or details but they should be able to pass a message on to him.
There can't be that many Ian Clarke's working as a Taxi driver in Cambridge.

Sorry Nick. Just re-read your message. I missed the bit about the Hackney registrations... It was late!

Anyway, I have his address - I may end up
visiting and asking a neighbour something, but I'm currently near Swansea in South Wales, and Cambridge is a bit of a hike...

Cheers,
Jamie

How about sending a recorded letter by snail mail? Then you can at least get a signature to confirm his existance.

I posted a message on alt.radio.uk.talk-radio and got this response-

Eek !(

No... we had a deal, Cl@rkey and I... if he was disconnected from his
computer for any reason he'd let me know via snail mail, this has worked
over the past four years. However, this time I've had no response
whatsoever to the RUOK cards I've sent, and am quite concerned. There
nothing we can do though, but sit and wait. And hope that he's okay.

Also, I know people have tried to phone him but got no reply.

This is indeed a mystery.

That little guy with the crown is all the proof you need. Plus the fact that the audio is sloooowly being updated. Smile

I think they should cancel Crimewatch, full stop.
