I've got this. It was 16.1.00. James Whale was on air at the time, but as for fireworks?? Well, I don't remember anything particularly spectacular about the broadcast.

Can i just say that i'd have just uploaded from the point of Ash trying to refresh Whale's memory about what he wanted to say..

"Was it Cars?"

From there one Whale talks about the new Car Guys show.. which I never heard a second thought about, but you know, that's media development for you..
Obviously they thought Mike Dickin was more worthy of airtime!

Ahh, right, time for a shameless plug!

http://www.mikesdickin.co.uk ...

Yooooouu Love Mike's Dickin!!

Have you by any chance got coverage of the same evening when dickers was on air? Apparently an engineer walked in during his show and said 'alright mate?' whilst he was on air!

This would be a most humorous thing to hear especially how the dickster will have verbally destroyed this engineer.

This clip was requested on the alt.radio.uk.talk-radio newsgroup some time ago.

Nope, sorry. I heard it at the time, but my recording only went up to a few minutes before it happened, then stopped.

Now, however, we should be able to catch all of these classic clips with my new back-up system! You'll have to let me know within a week or two of the bit you want, though... and it'll have to be a non-sport show, of course.

If its a hwakbee an djacobs clip you are after I tape every one of their shows and usually keep the shows for 3 or 4 days after.

Also instead of uploading whole shows I think it would be preferable to get the highlights from the shows. I know it would mean more work but downloading an hours worth of Wolf does not appeal to me...one call however could be tolerated!

Clips that *I* consider to be highlights, may not be considered highlights by others. The Audio Archive is meant to be an opportunity for fans of the show to hear it, even though they're not awake at the time it's broadcast, or if they happen to miss an hour or two.

Mark, it was you who suggested that I upload entire James H Reeve shows for clarkey.com. I did it, cos I knew there was a market for it. It's exactly the same with Charlie's shows. If you want calls that *I* consider to be classics, they're on clarkey.com.

However, if others want to highlight a call for special attention, I'll edit it out for everyone to hear.

Yeah - whole James H Reeve Shows are great. Charlie, however can not match his consistent quality Sad

Also Ian, how about getting a picture of Robin on this site. He's as much a part of the show as Charlie and besides I've just had my dart board stolen

James had an excellent show, no denying it.... but he has been doing phone-ins for 20 odd years. Charlie's been doing it for a just over a year.

What I like about Charlie's show is the honest, straight forward approach and unique State-side perspective. He's also totally open to ideas, and craves feedback. I wouldn't have the motivation to do a dedicated tribute site to any other presenter... they just don't seem to care about listeners the way Charlie does.

As for photos of Robin... rest assured, if I'm given any (with his permission), I put them up. Smile

On the contrary - I think Hawksbee and Jacobs are most welcoming to listeners - especially regular contributors. Squad numbers, the poll and inviting regulars to their christmas party shows how accomodating they are. Wolf's show on the other hand has a strictly "Over 40's" caller demographic due to most callers being insulted by Robin and told, as I was one evening, to "Go and phone Steve Norris". And his show is welcoming ot listeners? Although he did respond to my complaint e-mail so thats one thing..
