Charlie...if your browsing...any hilarious comments to make regarding the recent posting about your two facedness in relation to irish people when ya cross the Irish Sea at weekends or indeed to the open letter currently in the posession of RedFm?

you've certainly stirred us up biy and we are the wrong kinda nest to disturb.

howdy tucker.

and to Mr. Wolf, are you intending to actually have informed discussions on your show anytime soon? Being one-sided and generalising does not constitute a discussion.

are you following me?

i havent listened to wolverines show as i find talk radio to be just a medium for self-promoters and langers.

i do however read his 'pieces' in de paper and find them very basic and sometimes deliberatly inflammatory. A bit like louis walsh.

but i will attempt to listen to the wireless program and see if he's as langerish as most people say he is. and i mean 'most'. i'm just incensed at what Scipio uncovered.

I hardly listen to Wolf now, I used to at the start, because I heard some debacle about his nonsense and decided to check it out. After giving it a fair amount of listening time, I decided I could no longer subject myself to listen to that man.
I wouldnt really care if Wolf is on RedFM or not, but he's dissing us across the water in the UK, and THAT I will not stand for (I get enuf hassle being Irish in the UK not to mind him stirring up shit)

I know of no-one who gets hassle in the UK for being Irish - quite the opposite. I'd be interested what hassle you've had while over here.

Charlie has strong views on alot of subjects - it's a must for any good talk show host, in my opinion. His job on talkSPORT is to encourage calls to the station. If you think talk show hosts need to remain neutral on discussion topics and merely serve as an arbiter to these discussions, then don't listen to Charlie.

If you find it impossible to stop listening to someone whose opinions you dislike, then Charlie is doing a grand job.

Charles if you really believe in your own hype about having an open forum then why not invite some of the good people from PROC on your show to discuss their views.
Could it be that you might not enjoy actually having somebody of Intelligence on your show.
Could it also be that this would negate your usual response of cutting off intelligent callers and ridiculing them when they can no longer respond but you still remain on air?????????????????

Unless your experience of England is from the 70's to early 80's while the IRA bombing campaign was still going, you must have been incredibly unlucky to come across anti-Irish sentiments.

I don't know anyone who harbours anti-Irish views. Please don't damn an entire country from, what sounds like, a few unfortunate summer breaks here.

ian, what little cocoon are you living in? are you saying that now the asians and black population are taking the brunt of english racism that they forgot about poor dim-witted paddy?

i have lived and worked in england and on the whole, i enjoyed every minute i was there. the people were beautiful, even the roughnecks and dodgy fuc*s..but then again i was in the North East...different breed of people there. i found tho that the anti-irish sentiments were regional. my treatment in london for instance was terrible, but i pride meself on being an intelligent being and quick witted and was able to put those feckin thick eejits in there place verbally and rather quickly.

it still goes on...and dont think it doesnt. and your mentioning of the IRA bombing campaigns is interesting, cos even tho i was ere but a boy, some people still held me accountable....and that was only 7 months or so ago.....

ditto, tucker.
I still get those kinda insults thrown about the IRA etc, for example, in a café in southern england, the waiter made jokes re. the irish and the IRA the whole way through our dinner, and when we paid and got up to leave afterwards he said he'd just check under the table in case we might leave a "present" under there, like the irish always do.

Well as for the fact that I live in Glasgow, you can imagine the fun Rangers fans have with hassling me once they hear my accent.

I fail to see why people have to insist on bringing up the IRA the whole time. It's not like I go around making "jokes" agaisnt the british, ya know.

can you imagine me going up to some stranger in a pub or in the street saying "oh...lads...remember them millions of people that died in the famine, while you took all our food, awww yeah...isnt that a funny joke to say to ya...eh?"
or "isnt it hilarious that the British invented the concentration camps"
or maybe a nice joke about Bloody Sunday perhaps?

Sorry. I cannot 'admit' to something that contradicts my own experience and observations. If you experienced prejudice while over here, then I apologise on behalf of all decent Englishmen.

It is possible for a minority of idiots to tarnish a nation's identity. My hope is that it does not encourage further prejudice, by having an entire nation damned by the actions of the few.

thanks for the response ian and for accepting that irish people have had recent experiences of prejudice. but we have had discussions recently on PROC re our thoughts about the british and just to inform ya 90% of the replies were very positive and fair-minded. we dont expect one person to apologise for one nation. that will achieve nothing. but if the queen was to dance naked with a blow up doll of de valera...that would give us a good laugh tho...
